Abstract

280,313. Foamite Firefoam, Ltd., (Foamite-Childs Corporation). Sept. 1, 1926. Mixing solids with fluids in flow.-In apparatus for mixing fire extinguishing or other chemicals in dry powder form with a liquid in flow, of the kind comprising a 'Venturi tube through which the liquid flows and into which the power is sucked through a passage from the powder receptacles, the tube has a two diameter throat, the powder passage communicating with the part of larger diameter. A water supply pipe 1 is fitted with a Venturi tube comprising an abrupt entrance section 4, a two diameter throat section 5, 6, and a long delivery section 7. The throat section 5 is relatively short while the section 6 is long. The powder receptacle 11 is fitted into a threaded sleeve 10 and discharges into a sloping orifice 8. The mouth of the container is fitted with a ferrule 12 with an orifice 12<a>.
