Abstract

279,988. Jackson, W. G. Sept. 17, 1926. Catches yielding to pull.-Cabin doors or the like are held open or closed by an automatic holding-device 1 which receives and holds a knob 4 secured to the door. The device 1 comprises a cylindrical box 5 which is secured to the stationary surface and houses an apertured elastic disc 3 held in place by a sleeve 7 and a threaded member 9 which may be rotatably adjusted by an instrument engaging a rectangular hole 10 therein. The knob 4 passes through the hole in the elastic disc 3, which then holds it in position. In a modification, Fig. 3, the elastic disc is replaced by a metal tubular member 3 provided with slits 12 to render it flexible.
