Abstract
278,933. Goldschmidt, G. P. Nov. 20, 1926, [Convention date]. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Plane trigonometry calculators.-The vector triangle of wind, ground, and air speeds, or equivalents, concerned in problems of longdistance navigation is solved by means of ruled and divided transparent protractors &c. movable upon a marked baseboard. In the form illustrated, there are two protractors 7, 8 longitudinally slidable upon a base plate 6 ruled to represent the course and various drift angles. The protractors are similarly marked with radiating lines and concentric arcs and can be clamped in position by screws 4, 5. Adapted to move transversely and above the protractors is a slide 9 bearing converging lines and surmounted by a cursor 12 having a line graduated in terms of air speeds to enable the speed of the wind to be determined for various speeds of the craft.
