384,763. Plane-trigonometry calculators. MAHONY, G. J., 46, Cranley Gardens, South Kensington, London. Nov. 6, 1931, No. 30819. [Class 106 (i).] A device for determining the courses of aircraft comprises an outer disc A with protractor markings and an inner rotatable disc B having marked upon it circles a representing wind speeds. The outer disc is also marked with speed circles. In the inner disc is a diametral slot c the position of which is indicated by pointers e and in which slides a pin F forming a pivot for a transparent member E having a speed scale b and a series of lines parallel thereto. If the craft is to follow a given course OY, the inner disc B is turned until the slot C is in the wind direction, the pivot F is moved along the slot a distance corresponding to the wind velocity, and the member E is turned about the pivot F until the point Z, indicating the known still-air speed, lies on the course line OY. The course direction FZ is then read on the protractor disc A by means of the parallel line OL.
