Abstract

Electromagnets. - The coil is wound on a hub 2 arranged between flanking discs 1 of flexible or resilient material, the discs being held towards one another by a cord held backwards and forwards in slots 1<a> in the edges of the discs. Holes 1<b> are provided in the disc to reduce the capacity of the coils. The discs and hub may be made of celluloid and may be clamped together by a copper ring 3 of channel section and broken at one point. In Fig. 3, the hub 2 is formed by the inner edges of the discs, these being stuck to the ring 3. Other forms are shown in Figs. 4 and 5. In Fig. 6, several discs 1 are spaced apart by ebonite spacers 4 arranged in coaxial groups and forming a hub. Rivets 4a pass through the discs and spacers.
