Abstract

Catamenial appliances.-A catamenial pad comprises a length of absorbent material 3, Fig. 2, disposed between bands 1, 2 of muslin, gauze or the like over which a tube 4 of muslin or gauze is drawn; the pad is thus readily disintegrated for disposal after use. In a modification, Fig. 4, the bands, 1<1>, 2<1> are shaped to form a pouch, each being extended on one side only. In another modification, the bands are secured together at the edges to form a tube whose axis is perpendicular to that of the outer or closure tube. The inner tube may be provided with fastening loops. In another modification, the inner casing consists of a single sheet wrapped round the absorbent material. The absorbent material is preferably of cellulose fleece.
