Air, supplying.-In a modification of the invention described in the parent Specification wherein air is forced through pipes passing from the front to the rear of the ash-pit where they are bent upwardly and then pass forwardly over the grate to deliver air through perforated vertical pipe sections mounted on the deadplate, the portions P of the pipes K arranged above the grate gradually rise towards the front, of the furnace.
