Abstract

275,858. Minter, M. M. June 18, 1926. Continuous kilns.-In a system comprising a number of kilns connected for continuous working, each kiln 18 has spaced around its periphery, fire-places 26 beneath which is an annular flue 45 closed at its ends and connected to the outlet 22 of the preceeding kiln by a flue 23 and to ports 48 in the opposite sides of the fireplaces 26 by vertical and horizontal channels 46, 47. The air or gas supply through the channels 47 of the various fire-places is equalized by blocks 49 which decrease in size as the distance of the fire-place from the inlet to the flue 45 increases. The fireplace openings are divided by horizontal partitions 44 and fires are built both on and beneath the partitions.
