Electrically - released switches. - An automatic switch for controlling the current supply to a motor in accordance with variation of temperature consists of a thermal switch 35, Fig. 1, subjected to the variations of temperature and a main motor switch 19, Fig. 2, which is brought to the closed position by the electromagnet 11 energized from a local circuit 36 when the thermal switch assumes the " on " position indicated. In this position a pivoted recessed latch 27 falls over the end of the main contactcarrying member 15 and holds it in the closed position and at the same time an auxiliary contact-member 30 on the latch moves away from its fixed contact 31 thereby breaking the local circuit and de-energizing the magnets 11. When the thermal switch, due to reduction of temperature, assumes the off position a local circuit is completed through the thermal switch and through an auxiliary contact carried by the main contact-member to the tripping coil 33 which raises the latch and releases the main contactmember.
