Mountings.-A device for absorbing shocks in the training-gear of multiple-gun turrets when a lateral gun is fired, comprises a spring-controlled hydraulic brake which is operated through a rack or worm from the crown wheel of a differential gear interposed in the motor-driven shaft which serves to train the turret. The driving motor can thus remain connected to the turret during firing. In the form shown, the gun is trained by a worm gear 6, 5 acting on a shaft 3 driving a pinion 1 gearing with the training ring 2'. A differential gear mounted in a break in the shaft 3 has its planetary pinions x connected to a wormwheel 8 gearing with a worm 10<a> on a transverse shaft. One side of this shaft is connected to a double-ended spring device 12a and the other to an hydraulic dash-pot 15<a>. When shocks occur, the worm moves bodily to either side, but, when training corrections are applied, the worm is rotated by a motor 17 through chain-gearing 19. The worm gear may be replaced by a rack and pinion.
