Abstract

479,398. Toothed gearing. STRUBE, C. April 1, 1937, No. 9278. [Class 80 (i)] [Also in Group XXXIII] Gearing for controlling aircraft landing-gear comprises an epicyclic train 34, 30<1>, 30 which may be operated from the shaft 11 of a pneumatic motor 50 or from a manually-operated shaft 1<2>, so as to drive the shaft 2 on which the sun-wheel 34 is mounted in the same direction. The shaft 1<1> acts through an irreversible worm 31 and a worm-wheel 41 rigid with the annulus 30. The shaft 1<2> acts through a worm (not shown) on a worm-wheel 4<2> secured to an extension 33<1> of the planet-carrier 33. When the motor 50 drives, the carrier 33 is held by the worm-wheel 4<2> and when the hand wheel is operated the annulus 30 is held by the worm 3<1>. The shaft 2 carries a bevel wheel 63 engaging bevel wheels 64<1>, 64<2> on shafts 65<1>, 65<2>, which are connected to levers 70<1>, 70<2> which actuate the landing gear. The gearing is mounted in two fluid-tight casings 39, 68 to facilitate lubrication. The planet-carrier 33 is centred on the shaft 2 by rings 35. The annulus carrier 36 is centred on the shaft 2 by a ring 37 and on the carrier 33 by bearings 38. The whole assembly is supported in the casing by bearings 40, 41, 42.
