Abstract

660,430. Toothed gearing. SOC. DE CONSTRUCTIONS ET D'EQUIPEMENTS MECANIQUES POUR L'AVIATION S.O.C.E.M.A. June 13, 1949 [June 12, 1948], No. 15696/49. Class 80 (i) Epicyclic reduction gearing applicable to the drive of an aircraft propeller includes means for individual angular adjustment of each planetary gear 8. A double helical sun wheel 1 mounted on the driving shaft 2 meshes with planetary wheels each comprising two helical halves 3, 4. The two wheel halves are secured to each other and to a shoulder therebetween on the shaft 6 by resiliently mounted axial bolts 7, with the interposition of distance washers 5 so that the wheel halves are relatively axially adjustable. Keyed to each shaft 6 is an axially adjustable spur wheel 8 meshing with an annulus 9 secured to a casing 10 by means of resiliently mounted bolts 11. Axial adjustment of the wheel halves 3, 4 effects angular adjustment of the shaft 6 to bring each gear wheel 8 into correct meshing engagement with the annulus 9.
