Abstract

274,144. Villiers, C. A. Jan. 20, 1926. Cone and disc; fluid-pressure.-A brake for the wheels of vehicles comprises an annular piston or diaphragm 8 or a series of pistons or diaphragms disposed in a fixed casing 4 secured to the wheel spindle 6 and enclosing a disc 1 splined on the hub 2. By admitting pressure fluid to the casing 0 4 the disc 1 is gripped between friction surfaces 5, 7 carried respectively by the piston 8 and the casing. The disc 1 is returned to release position against a stop 13<a> by a spring 13 and the piston &c. 8 by a spring 10 abutting on sockets 12 and on rods 11 fixed respectively to the casing and to the piston.
