Abstract

518,431. Fluid-actuated valves. BOSCH GES., R. (formerly BOSCH AKT.-GES., R.). Aug. 26, 1938, No. 25061. Convention date, Aug. 26, 1937. [Class 135] [Also in Group XXXIV] A valve for fluid-pressure brakes and other purposes comprises a diaphragm f which is gripped centrally and controls with its rim the passage of pressure medium between two valve chambers, and also a funnel-shaped diaphragm supporting disc n having an axial neck o surrounded by a coiled spring m which holds the diaphragm on its seat. The coiled spring m has its first turn fitting well on the neck o of the supporting disc whilst a space is left between the neck o and the remaining turns. The valve casing is in two parts a, b respectively having a connection c to a control valve and connections d, e to the brake cylinder and the atmosphere respectively. The centre of the diaphragm is secured to a guide pin g carrying a valve disc h which when the brake is applied opens to release the brake cylinder pressure on operation of the control valve. To release the brake, compressed air is admitted past the diaphragm seat k with the valve h closed.
