Abstract
798,816. Valves. WESTINGHOUSE BREMSEN-GES. Oct. 4, 1956 [Oct. 10, 1955], No. 30213/56. Class 135. [Also in Group XXXIV] A control valve for a fluid pressure brake system wherein two separate brake circuits are adapted to be supplied directly with fluid from reservoirs 8 and 10 on operation of a lever 37, comprises a graduation piston 14 which is caused by force transmitted through spring 13 to move valve member 19 away from its seat 20 and allow fluid from reservoir 8 to pass to the brake cylinders 9, and at a later stage, through control tube 23, to move valve member 29 away from its seat 30 and allow fluid from reservoir 10 to pass to the brake cylinder 11. The pressures in the brake cylinders 9 and 11 are kept substantially equal by reaction against one another on diaphragm 25 which is secured to control tube 23. When the pedal is released all the brake cylinders 9 and 11 may discharge to atmosphere through the central channels 24 and 16 and port 5.
