[Class 103 (i)] In fluid-pressure operated brake of the kind comprising an inflatable annular tube adapted to press friction elements against a brake drum, an inflatable tube 3 is arranged within a carrier 2 which is secured to the wheel axle 1 and is formed with radially projecting parts 9 of circular cross-section acting as abutments for friction elements 8 surrounding the tube 3. Each element 8 comprises a friction lining carried by a resilient steel band which is anchored to the carrier 2 at one end 10<11> and secured to a release spring 12 at the other end. When pressure fluid is supplied to the tube 3 through passage 4, the friction elements are expanded against the drum 5 which has a corresponding cross-section and is secured to the wheel 6.
