Abstract

The motor vehicle wheel brake uses annular rings of friction material applied by hydraulic pressure. The hub (4) for the wheel (1) carries the body of the brake, this being in two parts (31, 32). The pressure is applied by an annular piston (81) stepped internally, and by an annular externally stepped piston (82) having a shoulder (83) on which this pressure acts. The stepped pistons exert a pressure through radial extensions (86, 87) in the same plane as the shoulders (83). This pressure operates the brake lining holders (9, 10) fitted to arms (21) and are axially free but blocked circumferentially. Cooling air is drawn in through openings when the wheel rotates.
