273,486. Fletcher, G. H., and Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd. June 30, 1926. Electric locomotives of the type having a motor with two oppositely rotating members are fitted with a vertical driving shaft 6 geared with a crown wheel 17 on a quill shaft 18 and with a sleeve 11 geared with a crown wheel 16 also fast on the shaft 18. The shaft and sleeve are oppositely rotated by the two members of the, motor. The shaft 18 drives the wheels 21 through a coupling 22 which may be of the kind described in Specification 239,342, [Class 80 (ii), Gearing, Variable-speed &c.].
