Abstract

Driving and transmission mechanism, special applications of. - The wind wheel 3 turns loosely on a hollow pivot-sleeve 2 fixed to the turntable head 1 of the supporting tower and serving as a bearing for an internal shaft 8 coupled to the wind wheel. In the form shown, which is suitable for driving electric generators, the coupling is effected through gear-wheels comprising an internal gear 4 secured to wheel 3 and meshing with wheels 5 mounted on a stationary disc secured to the pivot sleeve 2, the wheels 5 driving a wheel 7 secured to shaft 8. The other end of shaft 8 transmits rotation to a vertical shaft through bevel gear shown. In a modification suitable for pumping, wheel 3 is directly coupled - to shaft 8, the other end of which carries a disc -with a crank-pin serving to reciprocate a vertical .shaft. The coupling may be flexible.
