Abstract

273,202. Friedrich, W. Feb. 11, 1927, Fire - extinguishing by pulverulent materials.- In a dry fireextinguisher of the kind having an intermediate chamber 4 housing a pressure-gas cylinder 5, the chamber 4 has a removable able cover 6 guiding a valve key 7 and is provided with gas outlets 13, Fig. 3, at various heights. The outlets 13 are covered by leaf springs or by a single plate spring 15 retained by a cover 16 having cut-away portions 17 corresponding to the outlets 13. The gas jets are all directed towards the same side through the narrow space between the container 4 and the main container 1, so that they stir up the powder, passing in a circular path around the container 1. A safety device, in the form of a frangible disc 19, is provided in the cover of the chamber 4, and a spring safety valve and a frangible disc 24 abovo the discharge nozzle 3 are provided in the powder container 1. In a modification, the chamber 4 communicates with distributing rings each provided with depending pipes of varying lengths provided with laterally-projecting nozzles.
