Abstract

272,165. Heberlein & Co., Akt.-Ges. June 5, 1926, [Convention date]. Yarns, treating with liquids.-The treatment of yarns &c. composed of vegetable or artificial fibres, with a halogen compound. of phosphorus, is applied locally for the purpose of enabling, differential effects to be produced. Thus, the material may be printed with a reservethickening, and then subsequently in combination with previous or subsequent treatment with alkali, or even without such treatment, subjected to the action of a solution of a halogen compound of phosphorus, either alone or in the presence of alkali; alternatively, alkali, with or without a dyestuff, may be added to the thickening, and in this case the printed portions react more readily with the phosphorus compound than do the unprinted portions. In examples, mercerized cotton yarn is printed with a gum thickening, then passed through an adcoholic solution of caustic soda, and finally treated with a solution of phosphorus oxychloride in toluene; a cotton-viscose silk fabric is printed with a reserve, and then treated with a solution of phosphorus oxychloride in benzene; cotton fabric is printed with a thickening containing caustic soda, and then drawn through a solution of phosphorus oxychloride in xylene. Specifications 255,453 and 261,792 are referred to.
