Abstract
196,298. Heberlein & Co., Akt.-Ges. April 15, 1922, [Convention date]. Liquids, treating with.-In the treatment of vegetable fibrous materials, e.g. cotton yarns, with concentrated mineral acids to produce wool-like and transparent effects, the action of the acid may be prolonged without hydrolytic degradation of the cellulose by the addition of heterocyclic bases, particularly pyridine and its homologues. Mercerized cotton fabric is treated for 5 minutes with 9 parts sulphuric acid, 56.5‹ BÚ., and 1 part of pyridine. Specifications 12559/14, 13129/14, 100,483, 108,671, 191,203, and 192,227, are referred to.
