Abstract

244,485. Matt, H. Dec. 11, 1924, [Convention date]. Liquids, treating with; mercerizing.-Cotton yarns of less than 60 counts and fabrics made therefrom are given a linen-like appearance by treatment with sulphuric acid between 49‹ Be. and 50‹ BÚ. for a period of four minutes or more at a temperature between 0‹ C. and 5‹ C., and, after washing, mercerizing them under tension with caustic soda lye above 15‹ BÚ. at a temperature above 0‹ C. The sulphuric acid may be cooled to prolong bhe action, and the treated material may be beetled or calendered. In the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) the strength of the sulphuric acid is stated to be not aibove 50 1/2‹ BÚ., instead of not above 50‹ BÚ. as in the Specification as accepted.
