Abstract
308,720. El÷d, E. March 27, 1928, [Convention date]. Retting.-Cocoanut fibres freed from the corklike embedding substance, and, if desired, subjected to a preliminary cleaning process, are treated with alkaline liquids at a temperature over 100‹ C., preferably between 120' C. and 150‹ C., to render them soft and elastic. The fibres may be treated in a closed container by a 3 per cent sodium lye for twenty minutes at a temperature of 135‹ C. and afterwards lixiviated and dried.
