Abstract

271,562. Ricardo, H. R. Feb. 25, 1926. Cylinders, receiving liquid fuel. - A liquid-fuel admission device comprises a fuel valve C carrying a conical or other member E which, when the valve is opened, forms, with a fixed seating F, one or more fuel injection passages. These passages may be formed by straight or helical grooves E<1> on either the member E or its seating F or on both. Alternatively, the grooves may be replaced by flats on the member E or omitted, and a stop provided for the valve so that the fuel is delivered through an annular space between the member E and its seating. The size of the fuel-injection passages may be varied by exchanging a washer G for one having a different thickness. The valve may be opened mechanically or by the fluid pressure of the fuel as shown.
