Abstract

Loose ball valves.-Additional air is admitted to the induction pipe of an internalcombustion engine by a ball valve comprising a cylindrical casing a with air inlets a<2> at its lower end, a coned valveseat a<3> and a ball b loaded by a spring d the strength of which may be adjusted by a plug c screwed into the induction pipe at c<1> and into the casing a. The plug has bores c<2>, c<3> of two diameters, the shoulder produced thereby forming an abutment for the spring. A lock-nut e secures the plug after adjustment. The seat a<3> is of appreciable depth and the valve, when seated, projects below it.
