[Published under Section 91 of the Act.] Cylinders r e c e i v i n g liquid fuel.-Each cylinder of a Diesel engine has several fuel nozzles arranged in a plane or planes normal to the cylinder axis. The nozzles may be radial, tangential to a small circle concentric with the cylinder, or arranged in opposing sets as shown in Fig. 5. The piston end and the combustion chamber may be conical and the scavenging-air valve g arranged at the cylinder end above the fuel nozzles c as shown in Fig. 6.
