Abstract

270,876. Weller, J. April 6, 1926. Channels in toothed and chain gearing.-One or more annular grooves B, are formed on the inside and within the width of the rim of a spur or chain wheel A, the outer diameter of the grooves being such that they cut through the root circle of the teeth to form small holes or slots C through the rim between the teeth, whereby oil supplied to the grooves B is sprayed through the holes or slots on to the teeth of the meshing wheel or wheels or on to the chain. Oil is supplied to the grooves B through conduits D, E in the spindle and hub or through a pipe.
