Abstract

Movable-abutment type; packing. - Rotary pumps or motors of the type comprising an inner eccentrically mounted toothed or loped rotor meshing with an annular toothed outer member and having a crescent shaped block separating the two members opposite the point of full mesh are formed with cavities in the casing on each side of the point of full mesh to retain sealing fluid when the rotor comes to rest. When a renewable anti-frictional or non-corrodible casing liner c is used these cavities o, o<1> may be formed by an extension of the inlet and discharge ports therein. The teeth d of the annular member may also be recessed on their base as at r: they are mounted on pins s between side rings which have small pins entering holes u in the teeth to hold them in position. The teeth of the inner rotor have circular cylindrical contacting surfaces and extend between the teeth of the annular member to contact with the casing liner c.
