Abstract
269,521. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. April 14, 1926, [Convention date]. Hydrocarbons are obtained by passing oxides of carbon with hydrogen at pressures not exceeding 50 atmospheres over catalysts containing metallic, sulphides. Parts of the apparatus, especially the heated parts, which come into contact the gases should be free from iron. According to the example, an oil resembling petroleum is produced by circulating water gas at a pressure of 20 atmospheres through an aluminium-lined chamber charged with cobalt sulphide and heated to 270‹ C. Specification 20488/13 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the oxygen derivatives of hydrocarbons may be produced by the process and that copper sulphide, zinc chromate and metallic oxides which have been treated with sulphuretted hydrogen may be used as the catalyst, the temperature being 200-600‹ C. and the pressure 10-100 atmospheres or more. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
