Abstract

268,914. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd. and Pollock, A. A. Feb. 1, 1926. Dynamos and motors combined for transmitting power.-In a ship propulsion system in which propellers are placed forward and aft the forward propeller is driven at a lower speed than the other. In a twin screw vessel the port and starboard drives may be independent. The armatures of the forward and aft motors 3, 5 and that of the generator 1 are in series and the potentiometer control of the generator field 7 is linked with the field rheostats 12, 13 of the forward and aft motors so that as the generator voltage is increased the field strength of the forward motor is increased and that of the aft motor decreased.
