Mineral oils, purifying.-Low-boiling fractions of hydrocarbon oils are purified by treatment with aluminium chloride below 35‹ C. In an example, benzine obtained by cracking and 5 per cent by weight of dry aluminium chloride are vigorously agitated together at room temperature. The benzine is run off from the brown solution of chloride &c., filtered, washed with water, and fractionally distilled. Specifications 3572/14. 141,753, 160,148, and 204,078 are referred to.
