Abstract
267,409. British-American Laundry Machinery Co., Ltd., (American Laundry Machinery Co.). Sept. 14, 1926. Gearing for starting machinery requiring both hands of operator to be occupied.-Widely spaced push-buttons 14 are arranged in the table of a garment press which, in their normal elevated position, bridge contacts 17 and, when depressed by the operator, bridge other contacts 19, the contacts 17, 19 being in alternative circuits. When current passes through a solenoid 27 a pivoted armature is attracted thereto to release a band brake around the motor shaft, and a contact 32 carried by the armature makes contact with a stationary contact 33 to complete the motor circuit. A commutator drum driven by the motor 5 carries a complete conductor ring 23 and segments 23<1>, 23<11>, 23<111> and 23<1111> coacting with stationary contacts 24, 24<1> and 24". The operator depresses the buttons to complete the circuit 24, 23, 23<11>, 24<11> to close the press, releases the, buttons to complete the circuit 24, 23, 23<1>, 24<1> to apply heavy pressure, again depresses the buttons and completes the circuit 24, 23, 23<1111>, 24" to break the usual pressure toggles and finally releases the buttons and makes the circuit 24, 23, 23<111>, 24<1> to open the press fully.
