Abstract

243,465. British-American Laundry Machinery Co., Ltd., (American Laundry Machinery Co.). Sept. 6, 1924. Ironing - machines with pressing action only.-In a machine in which an initial pressure is produced manually, with motor-actuated means to produce a final heavy pressure and motorreleased means for effecting complete separation of the pressing members, means are provided so as to determine whether the press shall remain closed after the application of the heavy pressure or whether the motor shall be further actuated to open the press. A switch 98 is shunted across the contacts 60, 62 of the manually-operated switch 49 described in Specification 135,593, and according to whether the switch 98 is opened or closed by the operator, so the motor is switched out of or into circuit. When the motor is out of circuit the press will remain closed and the revoluble member 85 of the controller will remain stationary on the dead segment 75 as described in Specification 135,593. If, however, switch 98 is closed, the effect is the same as closing the contacts 60, 62 so that segment 75 is energized and the motor continues to operate to open the press.
