Ground levers; electric operation; transmission mechanism applicable generally.-Railway points are operated through a selector by either a ground lever or a power machine. The selector may be combined with either the ground lever or power machines. In the former case, Fig. 2, the points are connected to a slide SB mounted in a base B and carrying a pedestal P with an arm 12 and plungers 10, 11. The arm 12 is actuated by a lever 13, padlocked at 14, so as to engage either the bar TB of an electric machine, such as described in Specification 169,795, or a sector 22 operated by a shaft 20. The shaft 20 is mounted in a bracket B<1> on the base B and carries a handle 25, padlocked at 27. In the position shown the machine is coupled to the points. In the case of a selector combined with a machine, such as described in Specification 250,929, Figs. 4, 5, the points are connected to a bar TB<1> coupled to an arm 45 carrying a lever 47 with plungers 47<1>, 47<2> to engage either an arm 41 operated by the motor or an arm 50 geared to the hand lever 51. Lever 47 is actuated by discs 56<1> on a shaft 56 operated by ,a handle 53, padlocked at 54. The arm 45 carries contacts 61 bridging insulated contacts 62 on the casing 30 of the machine, so as to indicate the position of the points.
