Abstract

790,739. Regulating switches. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. June 8, 1956 [June 13, 1955], No. 17766/56. Class 38 (5). An auto-transformer tap-changer switch actuating mechanism has co-pivotal means for operation of a multiple position selector 12 and a reversing switch 16. A motor 70 drives a wheel 76 having pins 81, 82 to drive respective Geneva gears 78, 80. Gear 78 is keyed to a shaft 90 which operates an arm 76 carrying a bridging contact 66 for the selective connection of contacts 48, 50, 52, 54, 56, 58, 60, 62, 64 to a ring 74 connected as shown in Fig. 2. Gear 80 is coupled through a collar 108 to a sleeve shaft 106 which operates an arm 114 carrying a bridging contact 46 for the selective connection of contacts 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, to a ring 72, as shown in Fig. 2. When the gears reach a position where further increase or decrease of voltage can only be achieved by operation of the reversing switch, a roller 145 on a bolt 146 attached to the gear 80 engages a slot 142 in a sector 140 to rotate the sector which is fixed to a shaft 158 carried by and rotatable in the reversing switch actuating arm 138 which carries contacts 130, 132. The shaft 158 has a driving spur gear 162 engaging an intermediate gear 168, also carried on the arm 138, which engages a fixed gear 166 so that rotation of the shaft 158 by the sector 140 moves the arm 138 to effect operation of the reversing switch.
