Abstract

265,947. Malard, A. Feb. 11, 1926. [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Retractive switches have a flexible member 4 secured at one end to a. base 1 and carrying a pair of contacts 5, 6 co-operating with fixed contacts 2, 3 on the base. Between the contacts 2, 3 is located a stop 10 so that when pressure is exerted on the blade 4 between this stop and its fixed end as by a cam 9 on the shaft 7 the contacts 5, 2 first come into engagement (Fig. 2) and on further pressure the flexure of the blade separates the contacts 5, 2 and brings the contacts 3, 6 into engagement (Fig. 3). The two pairs of contacts may be connected in the circuit of a two-tone electric horn on a motor vehicle and the switch may be operated from the steering wheel of a motor vehicle as shown in Fig. 5 by the lever 14 pivoted at 15 and having its operating end in a convenient position near the periphery of the steering wheel. A number of contact strips may be operated, in the manner described by cams 9 mounted on a common shaft (Fig. 4) and arranged to actuate the contact strips simultaneously or a predetermined order. Other methods of operating the contact strips may alternatively be employed.
