Abstract
284,817. British Power Railway Signal Co., Ltd., Glenn, S. L., and Pierce, E. E., Dec. 6, 1926. Driving-arrangements; terminals and accessories, arrangement on machines.-The armature shaft 2 of an electric motor, used for controlling the bolts of swing and lift bridges, &c., is arranged to be rotated manually, means being provided for preventing the completion of the motor circuit during such operation. The end 4 of the shaft 2 is squared to receive a handle or hand-crank, which cannot be applied until a lever 10 is moved out of position. This lever carries insulated contacts 9 which normally engage contacts 8 to complete the motor circuit, and is so arranged in the casing that the end cover 14 cannot be closed until the lever is in normal position, or if just out of that position will be forced home on closing the cover by a lug 15 thereon. The cover 14 is hinged at 17 and is locked at an eye 23 by a padlock engaging a strap 19 hinged at 20. The lever 10 may engage push-button circuit-closers, or may carry additional contacts which govern indication circuits. Specification 251,339 is referred to.
