Abstract

273,472. Davies, D. R., and Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd. June 16, 1926. Sliding switch-carriage arrangements. -The separable isolating contacts in truck - type switchgear are in the form of interleaved multiple blades 5, 6 and 7, 8 which are pressed together by cams 14 when the switchgear portions are in engagement, the cams being carried by a shaft 12 operated by arms 16. The arms 16 are connected at their outer ends by a handle 17 and a cross-bar 18 also extends between them and engages a suitable projection on the movable switchgear member 4 so that the switchgear members cannot be separated until the handle is raised to relieve the pressure between the contacts. The contact pressure may alternatively be produced by toggle members, which may be carried by the movable switchgear member.
