Abstract

267,264. Buchan, J. C. Oct. 18, 1926. Cutting. - apparatus. - Relates to machines for manufacturing cardboard boxes or the like of the kind comprising cutting or creasing rules and a spring-mounted printing-block which normally projects above the rules and is thus enabled to receive ink without interference from the rules, and consists in mounting the printing- block on one or more blade springs. In the machine shown in the Figure, the printing-block e is mounted on a plate j which is resiliently supported on a base i by means of blade springs k and rubber studs l. The base is secured to the forme b, the printing-block being normally above the level of the rules d. The printing-block passes under the inking-rollers h without interference from the rules, and is depressed when passing under the cylinder a which carries the cardboard. The plate j and cylinder may be provided with embossing-surfaces. A flat bed may be employed for carrying the cardboard.
