Bakers' ovens.-In a " travelling " oven of the kind heated by gas burners f, f<1> arranged respectively above and below the conveyer c, the oven crown, from the inlet end to a point approximately one-third of the length of the oven, is formed of heat-radiating tiles h spaced apart to provide narrow slots i extending across the whole width of the baking chamber. The tiles h are supported by angle-irons h<1> the vertical webs of which form the slits i; the latter communicate with a flue serving to convey the gases from the front part of the oven to the chimneys k, k', the gases from the exit end escaping through an exterior flue n<1> to an additional stack n. Between the lower row of burners f<1> and the conveyer c is arranged a baffle formed of sheet metal plates o of inverted trough section and supported in pairs by transverse I-beams p. The baffle extends the whole length of the oven, but spaces are left at the sides through which the gases pass to heat the oven walls, the latter being provided, adjacent the gas passages, with lining tiles.
