Abstract

265,757. Chapelet, H. R. Jan. 15, 1926. K e y h o l e s , obstructing; latches, preventing operation of; locks, pin-key; wards.- A safety lock for securing the spindles of door locks comprises abase plate a, with tubular spurs a<1> for attachment to the door, carrying on its interior face a bolt g for locking the spindle, which passes through the orifice a<2>, and means for operating the said bolt, and on its exterior face a box b which encloses security devices for preventing manipulation of the locking bolt by any key other than that designed for the lock. The box b contains a series of non- rotatable ward plates which permit entry and rotation of the proper key, which is tubular and fits over the pin a<9> and has bits which engage notches in the long sleeve e<1> on an eccentric disc e rotatable around the pin a<9>. The eccentric disc e raises the bolt g to engage the spindle and is held in its operative and inoperative positions by a tongs spring e<3>. A scutcheon plate c is pivoted on a pin which is urged axially by a spring to keep the scutcheon in engagement with the box b and is held in its opened and closed positions by a lug entering notches in the front of the box.
