Abstract
263,344. Claudel, C. H. Feb. 22, 1926. Spray carburettors.-In a carburettor provided with a main nozzle 8 having outlet orifices 13, and a slowrunning nozzle 5 opening into the interior of, and coacting with a narrow slot 4 in, the throttle valve C, an intermediate nozzle 14 is provided surrounding the slow-running nozzle 5 and coacting with a narrow aperture 4<1> and an enlarged recess 16 in the valve C. Fuel is supplied to the nozzles through orifices 10, and aerating air which is supplied to the chamber of the main nozzle through orifices 11, 12 may also pass to the intermediate nozzle 14 through apertures 17. When the throttle valve is closed, fuel is supplied by the slow-running nozzle only, the suction in the recess 16 being insufficient to bring the nozzle 14 into action; when, however, the throttle is opened to an extent such that the outlet 15 of the nozzle 14 is situated in the narrow aperture 4<1>, fuel is supplied by both the slow-running and intermediate nozzles. A V- shaped or other gradually enlarged recess may replace the aperture 4<1> and recess 16.
