Abstract

262,580. Wood, V. C. Nov. 21,1925. Liquid - fuel furnaces.-A liquid-fuel burner is mounted on a housing of refractory material which forms an annular cavity around the burner nozzle and is provided with one or more inlets for secondary air. Fig. 1 shows a housing composed of an outer block c of fireclay formed with a central bore h and an inner block d of silica formed with a tapered central bore l. Secondary air is supplied through registering semicircular passages in the meeting faces of the blocks to an annular channel h<1> in the block c and issues into the annular space between the burner nozzle b and the tapered bore l through a series of passages formed between recesses i in the block c and recesses l<1> in the block d.
