Abstract

261,461. Greene, A. C. Aug. 15, 1925. Surface markings.-Lines are marked on roads, tennis courts, or other ground surfaces by short rigid inverted troughs formed of metal, pottery, glass or stone of distinctive colour, each trough consisting of an upper part a flush with the ground surface and sides b converging downwardly and formed with lateral flanges c for anchoring in the ground. Troughs formed as shown in section in Fig. 2 interlock with one another as shown in plan in Fig. 3 to mark a line. Recesses f or projections g, Fig. 4, may be provided in the wearing surfaces to prevent slipping. and the anchoring sides may have gaps j. Fig. 10 shows a mould for casting the troughs in concrete to form blocks for insertion in a trench in the road, the recesses 11 being left to receive grout. The mould consists of a side member 4 fixed to a base member 3 and a side member 5 hinged to the base and carrying the ends which are secured to the side 4 by bolts 8.
