Abstract
259,848. Ringfeder Ges. Jan. 13, 1926, [Convention date]. Indiarubber and like springs; vibration-dampers. -An annular spring a composed of superposed rings or a helix of rubber, fibre, or the like is faced externally, as shown in Fig. 1, with divided rings b of metal or other material adapted to resist wear, the rings being prevented from expanding radially outwards by a sleeve c. When axial pressure is applied to the annular spring a, as by an end plate d, the spring tends to expand and the pressure between the rings b and sleeve c results in a braking action which assists the spring in the absorption of shock. An inner sleeve of elastic material may also be employed. The divided rings b and the sleeve c may be arranged inside the annular spring.
