Abstract

259,603. Monge, G. de. Oct. 8, 1925, [Convention date]. Pneumatic springs; fluid - friction vibrationdampers.-The reactions of the usual suspension springs of a vehicle are damped by an apparatus comprising two relatively movable elements 5 having between them a chamber formed by a bellows from which air is freely expelled through a one-way valve 7 when the elements approach one another, a partial vacuum being formed in the chamber when the elements separate and small openings being provided to allow air to re-enter slowly. The bellows may be strengthened by rings 11. The small openings 12 may be provided in the valve 7.
