Lever - actuated pumps for viscous liquids; stroke, varying; combined with other types of pumps ; suction reservoirs; valves, arrangement of.-A pump for doughy masses is actuated by a lever 5 which passes with play through the slot 4 of the piston-rod and has deliver and suction slide valves actuated by links 10<1> and levers 11<1> pressed against the lever 5 by springs at 12. Plug cocks actuated by the links 10<1> through a rack and pinion may be used. The stroke is varied by a pin 19 engaging one or other of notches a, b, c, in an arm 7 adjustable by the nut 8. An air pump 14 actuated by the lever 5 delivers to the top of the suction reservoir 16. The piston comprises two cup leathers 21', 21<11>, Fig. 7, and a cone 22 pressed by a spring 23 on the edge of the upper leather.
