Loud-speakers ; diaphragms. -A hornless loud-speaker d, Fig. 2, is totally enclosed in a casing e secured to the back of a picture frame c, the lower wall f of the casing e being inclined so as to allow the frame to be suspended in a natural manner against the wall g. The picture or photograph a, Fig, 1, is mounted on a support b of looselywoven material, either with a perforated backing of cardboard or thin wood or stretched over an inner frame, the backing or inner frame being mounted in the frame c without the usual glass, front. The frame c is suspended from the picture rail h by hooks k and wires l secured to screw eyes m, the conductors n from the loud-speaker being threaded into the holes in the frame c that receive the screw eyes so as to establish the necessary electrical connection. The leads o from the receiver are laid along the rail h or are stripped of their insulating covering where they pass beneath the hooks k. Fig. 3 shows another construction having a slightly modified casing s for the loud-speaker, which, in this case, is provided with a flat pleated diaphragm r. According to the Provisional Specification, a paper or parchment diaphragm of round, square, oval, oblong or diamond shape and having radial ribs of paper glued to one side thereof may be employed, the diaphragm being fastened between two boards having holes of suitable size or shape cut in them. The Provisional Specification also states that the casing enclosing the loud-speaker may have holes cut in the sides to allow the sound to escape freely.
