Abstract
334,350. Laserson, F. M. Aug. 2, 1929. Diaphragms. - The free-edge conical diaphragm a of a loud-speaker or the like is supported at or near its edge by one or two small flexible supports c formed in one with or secured to the diaphragm, the support or supports being of sufficient rigidity to carry the weight of the diaphragm and being arranged only at the bottom half thereof. The ends of the supports are secured to a frame d, a small air gap being left between the edge of the cone and the frame. This air gap may be closed by a loose and flexible flannel ring e which, however, does not provide any support for the cone. The thickness of the flannel ring may be selected so as to provide a suitable degree of damping to the free edge of the cone which may be stiffened by a wire ring f.
